1. Planning and Preparation

  • Materials: New chilled water pipe (usually copper, steel, or PEX), fittings, valves, gaskets, and any necessary insulation or sealant.
  • Safety Equipment: Gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
  • Step-by-step Preparation:
  • Assess the Current System: Evaluate the condition of the existing chilled water pipe and identify the exact section that needs replacement.
  • Shut off the System: Shut off the chilled water supply and relieve any pressure in the system. Drain the water in the lines if necessary.
  • Isolate the Affected Area: Identify the boundaries of the section to be replaced and isolate it with temporary shut-off valves, if applicable.

2. Removal of Existing Chilled Water Pipe
